I explored visuals that appeared to flow like water, like scratching on film, and looked at real- world issues regarding beach clean ups. I experimented with water and plastic, altering colours and the camera’s focus to see how perspective changed. Would viewers be surprised to see the mass in the water was plastic?
Storyboarding out the initial plan was significant in separating the trivial from the meaningful. I started with a fun parody of ‘how to spend your 2 minutes’ and developed a stronger, more informative tone using books and the statistical sites for facts. I wrote the script myself so the narrative was easy to change around should there be any issues, the all- clear was given by the founders of #2MinuteBeachClean to use their material.
